Royal Bay Built: Undeterred by Old Man Winter

Royal Bay Built is your monthly update about what’s being built in this beautiful seaside community. Projects large to small, we’ll cover them all!

The bad news: The month of January was fraught with sleet, snow and rain in typical West Coast quantities. Thanks, Old Man Winter.

The good news: The team at Royal Bay was barely deterred by the weather, and still made plenty of progress on new homes for future residents, and on natural amenities for all Royal Bay-ites. Here’s what we accomplished during the worst winter month:

Meadow Park Progress Update

Pedestrians rejoice! Meadow Park North continues to transform into the beautiful active walkway network promised. January saw this suburban oasis receive paved trails and an attractive wooden bridge deck, which will soon receive railings and other safety features. Can you picture a leisurely weekend stroll through here yet? This community greenway was also planted with several trees, shrubs and grasses native to the area which will ensure this space will continue to blossom for years to come. These were no small feats in the wet winter weather-Imagine having to work through shin-deep mud in the blowing rain and snow… Brrrrr!

Native trees, bushes and grasses were planted in Meadow Park this month.

Townhome Progress Update

Compass had a very snowy start to construction on Monday, January 13th. Battling the elements, the team managed to break ground on the first of eleven buildings planned for the site. By the end of January, three building sites were established and made ready for vertical construction. Completion of the first two Compass buildings are estimated to complete by the end of October 2020. The two and three-bedroom townhomes in this exciting new addition to our neighbourhood are already selling, with prices starting in the low-$400s +gst. When complete, the Compass neighbourhood will welcome 58 new families to our community. Find out more about Compass at Royal Bay here. In other townhome news, construction for the now-sold out West Commons buildings is scheduled to complete by the end of April 2020, with all residents moved in to the community by May 2020. It’s so nice thinking ahead to spring…

GableCraft Homes Progress Update

Construction for the third phase of single-family homes in Royal Bay, located on Caspian Drive, are now well underway. In January, basic services were established for twelve new addresses. Future residents in this area will now enjoy the luxury of plumbing, drainage, and concrete curbs in their new GableCraft Homes. This new phase is now selling, and you can learn more about the new offerings here. Meanwhile, the last section of the second phase of single family homes, which is composed of the Song Sparrow Place cul-de-sac, was recently approved by the City of Colwood for subdivision. This means that homes can now be built and purchased on this piece of land right beside the beautiful Meadow Park (which we heard just received some pretty great amenities…).
