A second open house for the public to learn more and provide input into what is proposed for the future of Royal Bay, and the Commons Mixed-Use Village Centre.
More than 150 people toured display boards presenting our vision for the new mixed-use retail village town centre, and new parks and housing options for the Commons and Quarry Neighbourhoods
Gablecraft Homes has applied to rezone the Quarry and the Commons neighbourhoods to align the land-use zoning with the vision reflected in the Royal Bay Area Plan and the recently adopted City of Colwood Official Community Plan.
One of the largest master-planned communities underway in the Region, the goal is to build a pedestrian-oriented, ecologically integrated and economically-sound community.
The proposed development, located south of Latoria Boulevard and West of Metchosin Road will be divided into two distinct neighbourhoods:
The Commons –a new compact urban village containing a mixture of commercial, mixed-use, attached residential and apartments. Permitted uses will include: Civic uses, mixed-use commercial and attached / apartment residential, and will be home to a full-size grocery store.
The Quarry –primarily residential, the area is a mixture of ground-oriented (single-detached houses, duplexes, and townhouses) and multi-family units with a new 500-student elementary school, and extensive new parklands including urban parks and expanded Latoria Creek Park.
A final open house about the proposed Royal Bay Commons and Quarry neighbourhoods, will be hosted by Gablecraft Homes this fall.
